FY09 Scenic Byway Grants

This notice is to announce the solicitation of grant applications for Fiscal Year 2009 funding under the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) National Scenic Byways Discretionary Grant Program. The New York State Scenic Byways program deadline for submitting applications is Monday, February 16, 2009, by close of business.
All applications must be completed online at www.bywaysonline.org and submitted both electronically and in hard copy to the New York State Scenic Byways Program for review and possible submission. Applicants must also submit a SF-424 using www.Grants.gov. Grant guidance and access to the online grant application process are available at the America's Byways Community web site at: http://www.bywaysonline.org/grants/. The National Scenic Byways Program has scheduled a number of Grant Outreach Conference Calls throughout January offering grant guidance and is posted at the bywaysonline website. Please review all resources to ensure your grant application(s) meet all submission requirements for the 2009 grant cycle.
Proposed projects should reflect the priorities outlined in the corridor management plan that the respective byway organization has prepared. Eligible project categories include: safety improvements, byway facilities, access to recreation, resource protection, interpretive information, and marketing.
The State and National Programs will continue to be open to more strategic investments in this process by targeting resources toward projects that provide the greatest benefits. FHWA is particularly focusing on projects with substantial benefits and invites application of large-scale high-cost projects that provide strategic benefits within the National Scenic Byways Program.
