Lakes to Locks Passage is dedicated to building the appreciation, recognition, stewardship and revitalization of the natural, cultural, recreational and historic assets of the communities along the interconnected waterway of the upper Hudson River, Champlain Canal, Lake George, and Lake Champlain. Through partnerships with public, private and non-profit organizations we work to create a great place to live -- which is also a great place to establish a business, invest public resources, and promote as a world-class destination for visitors.
The vision, goals and objectives of the Lakes to Locks Passage Corridor Management Plan creates a forum for inter-municipal planning and implementation of economic development and community revitalization strategies as the key to quality of life in our communities. Through partnerships we are able to help communities utilize Byway, Transportation Enhancements and other community revitalization funding sources for:
- interpretation and education programs.
- recreation infrastructure improvements.
- multimodal transportation improvements.
- cultural and historic public places improvements.
- stewarding the environment, open space and the working landscape.
- maintaining the vitality of the waterways and waterfronts.
- delivering a neat, compelling, and authentic place-based tourism program targeted to national and international markets.
